چکیده

Climate change, or more accurately, climate warming, refers to the rapid increase in mean global temperature that has resulted from rise anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases since Industrial Revolution (Intergovernmental Panel on Change [IPCC] 2021). warming caused significant, long-term changes weather patterns along with pervasive consequences all parts globe and earth systems. No continent, ocean, culture, community, individual will remain unaffected by temperature, precipitation, fire regime, agricultural productivity, disease, severe events. change also significant social environmental justice implications as influences burdens not be felt evenly across countries communities (Inkley et al. 2004, Crausbay 2022, IPCC Limaye 2022). For these reasons, is one most pressing issues our times. As wildlife biologists, we feel a responsibility share passion for conservation management ecosystems they are part depend on. Climate Change: Overview and Implications for Wildlife

The Earth’s climate is vastly different now from what it was 100 million years ago when dinosaurs roamed the planet and tropical plants thrived closer to the poles. It is different from what it was only 20,000 years ago when ice sheets covered much of the Northern Hemisphere. Although the Earth’s climate will surely continue to change, climatic changes in the distant past were driven by natural...

ECOLOGY AND WILDLIFE: Climate Change and the Arctic Diet

Each spring, female polar bears and their cubs emerge from hibernation after months without food, and their survival depends on having good sea ice for hunting seals, their almost exclusive food. Also in spring, the Arctic sea ice begins to melt and break apart. Over the past 25 years, the timing of this melting has become less predictable as a consequence of warming in the Arctic, varying by m...

Climate change adaptation for the US National Wildlife Refuge System.

Since its establishment in 1903, the National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS) has grown to 635 units and 37 Wetland Management Districts in the United States and its territories. These units provide the seasonal habitats necessary for migratory waterfowl and other species to complete their annual life cycles. Habitat conversion and fragmentation, invasive species, pollution, and competition for w...

Effects of environmental change on wildlife health.

Environmental change has negatively affected most biological systems on our planet and is becoming of increasing concern for the well-being and survival of many species. At an organism level, effects encompass not only endocrine disruptions, sex-ratio changes and decreased reproductive parameters, but also include teratogenic and genotoxic effects, immunosuppression and other immune-system impa...

For example, Faber and McCarthy discuss the campaign to eliminate the pesticide methyl bromide as a port fumigant in San Diego, California. Methyl bromide is a reproductive toxicant and an ozone depleting chemical, so it is significant both for loca...
